A Maryland native, I studied art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Anne Arundel Community College and with several talented, local artists. An accredited member of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters and Oil Pastel Society, I also hold memberships with the Maryland Federation of Art, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, and Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters. My work can be viewed at the Aurora Gallery on Maryland Avenue in Annapolis, MD and the River Gallery on Main Street in Galesville, MD.

At an early age, I found joy in drawing with pencils and crayons. Over the years I have gained proficiency in oils and colored pencil. All things considered, oil pastels are my favorite medium for their ability to capture light, shadow and texture. Oil pastels travel well to paint on site and are just plain fun to use.

My travels with fellow artists to Maine’s rocky coast and Vermont’s woods and quaint towns inspired paintings “en plein air.” I often paint landscapes from digital photos in my studio and whenever possible outside where the light is so wonderful. I enjoy painting still life studies using items from my antique collections as props.

Artist that inspires me includes the oils and pastels of contemporary artist Wolf Kahn, and the still life studies of Manet and Cezanne.

I am available for commission paintings of portraits, as well as paintings of boats and pets.
